The Thompson Method is so much more than just a breastfeeding technique and is often quite different to what’s being taught in hospitals. Dr Robyn Thompson (founder) has worked alongside women as a midwife and breastfeeding professional for more than 50 years. Her entire PhD research was based around the question of why so many women were experiencing painful breastfeeding complications in the early postnatal period. It's a gentle, holistic approach aimed at sharing information to help women reduce their risk of complications. Our aim is that more women have the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, even in unexpected situations.
As a Thompson Method Breastfeeding Educator, I am certified to offer gentle guidance as you create your unique birth and breastfeeding plan. Together, we'll navigate the course materials so that you understand how you can be in control of your birth and breastfeeding journey. It's all about proactive education with gentle guidance to help you reduce the risk of breastfeeding complications.
And of course, when you join the Beautiful Breastfeeding Program you will have lifetime access to The Thompson Method Breastfeeding Program including all the Thompson Method Program Bonuses, interactive 'Care & Connect!' (Zoom Calls) with Dr Robyn's expert team of midwives and lifetime membership to the Breastfeeding Club with 24/7 guidance and support. There is really no other program like it.
There are times when medical intervention is required. However, unnecessary interruption to the 3 Golden Hours should be avoided, if possible. According to Dr Robyn Thompson, founder of The Thompson Method, a delay or interruption to the first and early breastfeeds increases the likelihood of nipple trauma, breast engorgement and mastitis. However, when you have the knowledge, you'll be more confident to make informed decisions that are in the best interest of you and your baby, even in unexpected situations.
As a certified Thompson Method Educator, my aim is to help you understand the possible implications associated with unnecessary medical intervention. Epidurals, opiate pain relief, etc. may result in a sleepy baby, sometimes for up to 3 weeks, which can make breastfeeding challenging. My encouragement is for you to understand the possible implications of opiate pain relief on breastfeeding, so that you can make informed decisions during your labor. It's important to be informed about the benefits, risks and alternatives, which provides you with knowledge so that you understand the potential outcomes.
Please be reassured I am not suggesting that you do not choose pain relief. I support and respect the right of every woman to choose whether she accepts pain relief. There are resources within The Thompson Method Program for dealing with a sleepy baby and many women have success meeting their breastfeeding goals using this method. And with 24/7 support from the Breastfeeding Club, we have admin ready to guide you to relevant information and videos when you need it most.
Sorry to hear you had such troubles breastfeeding. To reassure you, we have had many women in similar situations turn their breastfeeding journey around using The Thompson Method.
The Thompson Method is quite opposite to what's being taught in many hospitals and by many health professionals. It’s a gentle approach that harnesses your instincts and your baby’s instincts and provides you with the education and tools to avoid or overcome breastfeeding complications.
It would be unrealistic for me to 100% guarantee breastfeeding success for you, but my aim is that by being fully prepared for breastfeeding you will be able to reduce the risk of the common and often painful breastfeeding complications.
When you join the Beautiful Breastfeeding Program you will have Lifetime access to The Thompson Method Breastfeeding Program including exclusive bonuses, LIVE Group Sessions where you will personally be guided through every step of the program, personalized guidance as you create your unique birth plan, interactive 'Care & Connect!' (Zoom Calls) with Dr Robyn's expert team of midwives, and lifetime membership to the Breastfeeding Club with 24/7 guidance and support.
